No Gift Manifesto
No gifts, please!
We value individuals and interactions over trinkets and baubles.
We are acutely aware of the waste that gifts generate.
We believe that money and time spent on gifts is better spent elsewhere.

But I really would like to give something as a token of my appreciation.
Zelle or Venmo cash with a nice message. Then again, don't worry about it. We appreciate you just coming to the party.
Can I get you a gift card?
Please don't! We are probably going to lose it, so this ends up being free money for the store. If you must, pick one for a grocery store like Target or Walmart. But seriously, don't get anything. Just come and enjoy the party.
I already bought something.
Return it to the store if you can. If not, save it for another party. If you absolutely must bring it, don't worry about wrapping it or putting it in a bag. Bring a gift receipt.
What about party favors/goody bags/return gifts?
Not those kinds of gifts either. We want to focus our resources on making the party as fun as possible.
I always put "No gifts" on my invites.
We tried that. Some people aren't sure and bring gifts anyway. This makes others that didn't bring gifts feel uncomfortable.
What is the purpose of this site?
We want to encourage parties and gatherings where people enjoy each other's company while reducing waste, as well as the time, effort, money and anxiety that comes with gift-giving. We hope a common resource like this can help normalize no-gift gatherings.
